The base coat of the Tark'ee depends on their species. Sometimes, rarely, base coat genes can transfer from one species to the next in Cross-Deity breedings. However, for the most part, offspring of a certain species will only inherit genes of their species.
The below tabs show the colour allowances for the base coat.
Base genes are inherited in a Mendelian fashion. Coat modifiers include Snowy, Charred and Chromatic. Chromatic is a special, incredibly rare modifier and has it's own guide elsewhere.
Snowy and Charred have a 15% chance of passing to offspring with each instance in the parentage.
Examples:
nU x nn = 15% || UU x nn / Uu x Uu = 30% || UU x Uu = 45% || UU x UU = 60 %

Earth Tark'ee have 4 base genes which govern their coat colours. Amber (A), Brown (B), Midnight (M), White (W).
Amber and Brown are more dominant than Midnight or White, meaning that if there is a possible combination for Amber and Brown to take, they will do so above any combination involving Midnight or White.
Example:
Genotype - Aa, Bb, mm, Ww - will preferentially be Red. Not Tawny, and not White - both which involve the White gene.
Combination coats are:
Lilac (M+W), Tawny (A+W), Red (A+B) and Emerald (A+B+M+W)

Serpentine Tark'ee are unique in that they follow the colour palette (and gene inheritance) of the other species of Tark'ee.
So G, B and O belong to Wave and will have a Wave base coat.
Whereas A, M, B and W will show from the Earth, Flight and Rock palettes.

Variations
Tark'ee exhibit a range of variations such as wings, claws, horns and elongated fur! Most of these variations are unique to the species, but there are quite a number of shared variations across multiple of them - a callback to their close relations to their Deities and genesis.
These variations do not pass on to future generations in a Mendelian fashion, but instead have a gene system which shows itself phenotypically as 'rarities'. More common genes are more dominant and more likely to be passed on, whereas rarer genes are harder to pass onto offspring.
Some variations can appear new in a lineage from Cross-Deity breedings.
You will find more on the variations in the tabs below.
Design Note: If two variations clip one another on your import, you are welcome to move them out of the way, or even edit the lineart slightly to have the combination make sense.
Eg. A Wave Tark'ee with Head Sail and Ram Horns will have the furthest horn be in front of the fin. You can edit the lineart and base layers on the Ram Horns folder to delete the furthest one.

Cross-Deity Variations
These variations have a chance to occur when a Flight parent is bred to the following Species, and the offspring is Flight.
Only one of these can be present on a Tark'ee and is inheritable as a Rare variation from then on.
Wave = Waverider
Earth = Wingless (also occurs as random mutation in any Flight breedings)
Rock = Membrane Wings

Serpentine Variation inheritance works slightly differently to the other species.
When a Serpentine breeds with any of the other species, the offspring will mimic the pass rate of the non-Serpentine parent, regardless what species the offspring is.
However, should a Serpentine breed with another Serpentine, the following is used to determine the pass rate.
